Issue Position

Simply put, Arkansas government is too big, too inefficient, taxes too much, and has too many regulations. The tax burden on Arkansas citizens, as a percentage of our per capita income, is one of the highest in the nation. We are near the top in the nation in the number of state employees compared to our population. Our regulatory burden is greater than many so-called "liberal" states. Until recently, you even needed a license to braid hair. Arkansas needs a thorough review, and ultimately a reduction in the number of duplicative and unneeded regulations and regulatory agencies.
